Infrared Thermometer Gun

An infrared thermometer gun can be used for obtaining serious and practical temperature measurements, or fun and interesting temperature measurements.  Infrared thermometer guns are used by manufacturers, military branches, meteorologists, mechanics, and consumers.  These guns are easy to use and provide accurate readings, when used properly.  Infrared thermometers use a sensor to detect the emissivity (ratio of thermal or electromagnetic energy) of an object, surface, or material and the surrounding ambient temperature to derive an accurate temperature measurement.  The D/S, distance to spot, ratio is important.  The D/S ratio determines the distance at which an object can be measured with accurate results.  Almost all, infrared thermometer guns have a laser.  The laser serves as a pointer, and that’s all.  It has, absolutely, nothing to do with the functions involved in infrared temperature readings.

Infrared thermometer guns are useful, valuable, tools.  These thermometers are used in applications where it is not conducive to use a mercury thermometer.  They can be used to discover the temperature of many things that would be, otherwise, undeterminable.  There is a wide assortment of infrared thermometer guns available.  Some of the best sellers are:

1.  The IR200 Non-contact Forehead IR Thermometer:  This infrared thermometer gun measures body temperature from 89.6F degrees to 108.5F degrees with accuracy to 0.5F degrees, without contact.  The measurement should be within 1.9” to 5.9” of the forehead.  The Extech IR200 measures surface temperature from 32 degrees to140 degrees in less than one second.  It can store up to 32 results and has an easy to read display.  The Extech IR200 Non-contact Forehead IR Thermometer is available at instrumart for $99.99.

2. The Raytek Raynger ST80 Infrared Thermometer:  This infrared thermometer gun is suitable for commercial and professional industry use.  It has a temperature range of -25F degrees to 1400F degrees, and a 500msec response time.  The D:S is 50:1.  This allows for multiple measurements quickly and accurately, even from a distance.  Fire safety, road surface work, electrical, HVAC/R systems, weather and many more use this type of infrared thermometer.  The Raytek Raynger ST80 Infrared Thermometer is available at instrumart for $309.00.

3. The Fluke 62 Mini Infrared Thermometer:  This durable mini infrared thermometer gun is a convenient and useful tool for professionals and consumers.  It measures temperatures from -20F degrees to 932F degrees.  This no contact thermometer delivers accurate readings from up to six feet in half a second.  It has adjustable emissivity for measuring shiny or reflective surfaces.  This infrared thermometer gun is available online from Amazon for $95.00.
